When in this like scenario I firmly say, “when you cease to be outraged by what is happening in this country, your soul has died”. I get a lot of sputtering but it generally ends the conversation.
I’ve taken such comfort in coming here to listen to your point of view. I love Jesus, and hate what MAGA has done to confuse people about Christianity. I have close friends and family members that voted for Trump. One is a Christian. I cried when she told me that she voted for Trump because he will bring our country back to better days. Trump has destroyed the meaning of Christianity. In a time when a huge percentage of our country doesn’t know Jesus, we are missing our opportunity to share Christ. If they associate Christianity with MAGA, they will likely not want any part of it. Any Christian that voted for this monster should be ashamed.
I am right there with you, 1000%. And I hate the fact that I cannot personally do more to counteract all those things that are so hateful. I lack the financial resources to donate to the many causes that need it; I lack the physical ability to get out and actively demonstrate or to help organize the people who can. And I hate the frustration that results from these factors. BUT: I will continue to talk to people, to comment and show support in ways like this comment, to write to my Congressional representatives, and post things that might help others to do the things that I cannot.
Well, John! You did it again!! You expressed the words I have a hard time finding when I need them so badly! I’m at a loss for words too many times during the day. I try to avoid the “news”, to keep from getting further upset, than I already am. Is it wrong to pray “Lord, please!!” “Strike him down! Make this nightmare go away! Protect my gay grandson! Protect the women around me who are so emboldened to fight against the orange demon in the Oval Office. Protect the immigrants who have come to this country for their own safety; not to kill and destroy Americans, but to become one of us! You, Lord! You created all of us “in His likeness”. You have loved each and every one of us from the time of conception. Lord, protect all people of color, for they too, are Your children. Turn the hearts of those who are simply following this demon, for their own safety, even though a part of them is reluctant to do so, but fear has a way of convincing them to make bad decisions in times like these. Unite us in love. Unite us in peace. Bring us out of the storm, Lord. And bring our country back to its roots, back to being The UNITED States! 🙏🏼🇺🇸🙏🏼
Riding the same ride John! Always an empath who believed you treat people the way you want to be treated... and you get what you give was my motto! Now just mad and disappointed that people I thought I shared these traits in common with are allowing democracy die a slow painful death to💔
Good Morning John. I feel the pain you are in today, posting your truth. I’m glad you did. You speak a blatant truth in this upside-down world. It’s like the world slowly, then quickly accepted allowing the sewage of human minds to quit being channeled away for the public safety. And decided that living in sewage is really what we need to do. Really what we prefer. It’s really easier to live in sewage than maintain systems to keep our minds healthy. Doesn’t that sound so like the devil’s work of Christianity? I am convinced that the greater game afoot is to break our minds. A friend of mine told me “Life is as it’s ever been”. That was hard for me to take in. It comes to haunt me every single day. Yet, I’ve come to believe she’s right. Shakespeare said “Same play, different actors”. This is our time to survive the sewer. It’s hard and discouraging work. But YOU are making a difference in many people’s lives. If the answer to this insanity is that we simply need to do our part, I will surrender to that. But I’m not happy about it. But when I read your heartfelt truth each day, I hope I have as much strength in my actions, for those in my sphere to be encouraged by. Maya Angelou hits the nail on the head: “ I think we all have empathy. We may not have enough courage to display it”. Doesn’t that critical observation bring you to your knees? Pray for courage. Practice courage. Many people have no idea what it really looks like. YOU are courageous. I’m so grateful. Thank You.
I am at such a crossroads. I have quite a few friends that feel like I do. The problem is that we are older, retired, and feel as if our voices will not be heard over the din of hate mongering. I want to participate in some type of protest, like when I was in college, but I’m not physically able to go on picket lines or marches. In a sense, I feel helpless…
Robert, please be gentle with yourself. It sounds like you’ve given a lot over the years. Others have to step up.
Many of us “older folks” have found fulfillment by making phone calls to our Congresspeople and Attorneys General (the 5 Calls app is useful), writing get-out-the-vote postcards (Activate America is a good resource), and sending emails and letters to our elected officials.
You can thank your Congresspeople when they do the right thing or express your disappointment and outrage when they are capitulating.
Showing support for writers like John is also very crucial and helps all of us feel less isolated.
Please don’t give up. You paved the way for many of the activists who are now rising up.
Robert, if you want to help in a small way, we sure could use all the help here in NWFL CD-1. This is the district where Matt Gaetz used to represent us in the US Congress. We are trying to flip it Blue ( a long shot) but Gay Valimont is the real deal. I met her in person at a protest a few weeks ago. Every little donation helps. https://secure.actblue.com/donate/gay-valimont
Waked up once again to the news that Trump sent migrants to El Salvadore against the order not to do so by a Federal judge. Then I remembered that Trump thinks he is above the law because he believes he is God's chosen one. God - please discipline him!
You once again hit the nail on the head. I'm joining your self-care videos and they are such helpful reminders that we each have our own role to play because none of us can do it all. We are all threads in the tapestry. Sending love and good wishes to all the "hateful leftist" people!
Thank you. You so eloquently state what I, and many others, feel.
I was just gonna say that!!!!

AMEN!!
John, I feel the same way. We're not alone.

Thank you for giving clarity and validation to these feelings of “hatred” you’ve so succinctly described, and which so many of us share.
John, I join you in your hatefulness. You exactly articulated my feelings. Thank you for letting me know I’m not alone. 💞
Right there with you, John. Every word.
BE JESUS DOING HIS RIGHTEOUS THING IN THE TEMPLE!!!!!
IT’S TIME…IN FACT, WE’RE LATE.

David eventually had to pick up a stone against Goliath so, we're not alone.

That gaslighting we're all feeling is debilitating. It's draining and destructive. You are not crazy. You are not alone.

Wow, another manifesto of the Christian heart! So well said. Thank you John.
