~sigh~ the Neverending story of perpetual offendedness is rife in the party of misery. Their only joy, it seems, is to see how much pain, cruelty, and misery they can inflict on others, especially the underdogs, the needy, the poor. This is stuff that irony is made of, except it's not irony. It's the Party of Goodness is Our Kryptonite. Perfect poetry for such a time!
When Trump first joined the Birtherism in 2014, I never thought it would lead to what we have in our country today.
That movement with Trump as its leader revitalized the notion that the South won the Civil War.
Having lived in CA for almost 70 years and rarely visited the South, it never occurred to me that Racism was alive and well in many parts of the country.
Not just Trump, though, Reagan talked about Welfare Queens, a code word for Black Women taking advantage of government handouts.
Maybe the US can never heal itself from our very beginnings of stealing the country from the American Indians, to slavery, to what is going on now in the White House.
I visited my father in Jacksonville, Florida several years ago and the racism was rampant. My father proudly declared he was a racist, he feared and hated black people. We went to a McDonalds one day and the young black woman behind the counter just radiated fear and hatred at us. I mean I could FEEL the tension, it enveloped me. I was shocked and even took a step back and stopped smiling at her. I’ll never forget that moment. It made me so sad. I’m originally from California, raised in a diverse community, for which I am ever grateful. Like you, I had no understanding about how racism still thrives in our country.
I guess the maggot movement would be disenchanted by the lessons of welcome taught in the musical, "South Pacific"...especially the song: you've got to be carefully taught.
Sad but true. Superman is now to be shunned. I guess when you can blame Democrats for the floods in Texas, it was only logical that a superhero who does good, should be excoriated. Makes me want to see the film. It has to take a lot of energy to be perpetually offended and fearful.
At 81, I have plans with a gal friend to see it Sunday, after church! Adult grandsons are so excited about this film. Goodness and kindness, caring for others…YES🇺🇸
They could also be saying, in order to avoid the self-reflection, that it's annoying "they" (The Jews? The liberals? The Soros family? Mister Rogers?) keep pushing *their* woke agenda and ruin everything. They'd like to be spiritually masked, like ICE, so there's no consequences.
I would also direct everyone to Doctor Who. One of the things about that very long running program is its emphasis on empathy and compassion, and the rejection of hatred and aggression. The show runners of the reboot have been particularly focused on this as a message, which has had an interesting response in the UK, which has consistently been divided between those who are embracing the diversity of The Doctor with all their hearts and those who, for some reason, don't seem to understand that an alien from Gallifrey is not a white man. Life would be simpler if all we had to worry about was invasions of Daleks and Cybermen, but I fear we are living in the multipart episode, The End of Time, in which The Master (played brilliantly by John Simm) turns everyone on earth into clones of himself, with the exception of The Doctor (David Tennant) and his companions.
Science fiction is full of stories of empathy, compassion, etc. Just look at recent franchises like Star Trek, Star Wars, Battlestar Galactica, or the Marvel Universe for example. Compare that to the freak outs of MAGA over a black Spider Man, FFS. Who cares? It's a story. I guess they use their stories only for propaganda purposes and forgot they're just supposed to be fun.
Those who are angry at Superman should heed the words of Archbishop Desmond Tutu:
"It is when without thinking about it you help someone who is less well off, when you are kind to someone else and do those things that raise others up, you end up being joyful. Joy is the reward, really, of seeking to give joy to others."
While they are fighting Superman as superwoke the real threats and bad foreign actors are given access to the country's resources and free way to bribes and to hold the people in power by blackmailing them
''Trump's perpetually offended misery movement..." John... That's... poetry. I think this needs to be the GOP's new official name.
Love that phrase. And to turn it around, ....."perpetually offensive misery maker...."
Thanks for this message. When comic book superheroes push your 'woke' buttons, we know that you have truly gone done the magat drain.
I can’t believe I’m reading this here and not the Onion. It would be funny if not so true😢
I had the same thought! ("you're kidding, right???). "I'm not evil, I'm just drawn that way."

Glad you told that story. Sad, but true.

I wish I could laugh at how ridiculous these MAGA Republicans are. However, they really, really frighten me!

I will never be sorry for choosing good, truth, and right.
Their hearts are solid black at this point. 🖤 They can't even stomach a "woke" comic book character. 🙄🙄
Thank you, John. I can hardly wait to see this movie, and I’ll be thinking of this post when I do!

Seriously?!?!? MAGA is attacking Superman now?!?!?!
