'The Christian Left' Conversation With Charlotte Clymer

Reflection Questions

Charlotte talks about the issue of loneliness being critical in understanding how many people have been pulled into Conservative Christian communities that are predatory toward them, because they find a sense of belonging, because the Right does a better job of making them feel seen. What are your reactions to that?

Charlotte says that “those of us who are people of faith in politics and on the progressive end of the political spectrum, we need to be more outspoken about what faith means to us.” Why do you think moderates and progressives tend to have more difficulty sharing their beliefs than those on the Right?

Regarding the Left as a movement, Charlotte says that “our greatest weakness is that we have a lot of diversity of thought and a diversity of opinion, and we don't have a lot of grace with each other over that.” Has that been your experience or observation? How can the Left do better at bearing with difference and focusing on the bigger picture?

What is your biggest takeaway from my time with Charlotte?
