If this is not a spot-on assessment of Trump’s insanity, I don’t know what is! He has repeated this pattern of behavior so often that it has become entirely predictable. What amazes and perplexes me, though, is the number of people who don’t see this, and continue to assert his genius. Damn! I’d vote for my dog before I’d ever cast a ballot for this deranged lunatic!

The reflecting pool is a metaphor come to life.

I'm waiting for the next Made-for-TV "assassination" attempt. Just to remind you: ear cartilage does not grow back.

As an out and proud radical left lunatic dumocrat I find Donald Trump to be a stain on humanity. If only we could clean him up by a Hydrogen Peroxide bath 🙏

The peroxide didn't work in the pool, and it won't work on him, either.

Would be interesting to see its effects on his make-up and hair(?), though.

He's now arresting people for "vandalizing" it rather than admitting his mistakes, so unfortunately, there are victims to this insanity, too. I hope they all sue him.

John, you summed up his 2nd Presidency quite well. I just hope we survive the rest of it!

Everything this asshole touches turns to shit! Devine intervention?

Karma?

Well, this essay sums up very well the impetuous, irresponsible, immoral man-child that has successfully desecrated our democracy to enrich, empower himself, his family & his sycophantic followers. When he and his Administration finally explode from the sheer bulk of his toxic decisions there will be an orange slime over everything he's touched, including the green slime of the Reflecting Pool.

Yes, it's a thumbnail of the entire infected limb. Minnesota governor Tim Walz commented: “Found an imaginary problem, said only they could fix it, didn’t listen to experts, hired buddies who grifted millions, failed miserably, bragged how great it went. The entire Trump presidency in a nutshell.” And yet...Epstein.

A well written and succinct documentation of Donald Trump. He is cancer. He is a wrecking ball. He is any one of the million bad things my brain can conjure up.

He must be removed as quickly as possible.

If I may point out one missed point: Identifying a made-up adversary to shift the messed task blame onto. Jay Powell, Kilmer Abrego Garcia, John Thune, D.C. vandals, Obama, Biden and a seemingly unending list. This is the signal I watch for to know when DJT realizes another failure. The fact that the he often picks out people who have little power or even groups that simply don't exist seem not to matter. He writes his own story in which he is both the hero and the victim. This is both the hero who refuses to fall on his own sword and the victim who deems himself incapable of being remaining "under the bus".

Yes, he has already begun that process by having a curious cyclist arrested for pulling some slime covered paint chip out of the pool. Trump is referring to this person as a plural gang of vandals who somehow infested the pool with the algae. His Neanderthal MAGAs believe his story.

They are fed this trash by so-called broadcasters. Cut the festering sore out at its root.

If only someone could pipe in Sinatra's (I did it) MY WAY on loudspeakers to the Ellipse and the Reflecting Pool.

Is this a metaphor or a metaphor come to life?

The Reflecting Pool is now simply a Trump Reflecting Pool. It is a reflection of all of the mess he has created.

It's not just Trump. He's the manifestation of the rot in our culture that's gone unchecked since the first settlers arrived, and now it's metastasized through most of the body. What now?

Nay's avatar

You could still call it the Trump Reflecting Pool, because as you say he is what we got from the rot. It's kind of a Pandora's pond,,,,reflecting all the evil unleashed in the last 200 years at least.

Yes, don't forget how EVERYTHING is signed with those markers...Who, in the heck uses one for a signature? If he's on TV, I turn the channel. One newscaster had counted the times that he had told the American people, that Iran was "very close" to making a deal. As of Friday, that was 39 times, and counting... The deal he finally came up with was THE diplomatic blunder of the century...I think every dead president in his grave, is even horrified!
