I hear you loud and clear on the current difficulty of getting into the spirit of the season. Here it is two days before Christmas, and I haven’t even written my holiday cards to friends & family yet.
But then this afternoon, three things happened. First, I was walking to the post office, and my back pain was acting up. A pleasant older man saw me walking a bit bent over, and offered me his arm to help me get up the steps. I went inside to get a box to send something to my sister, and the postmaster told me I didn’t have to pay for it - they would only charge me for the postage. Then I went back to my car and went to Dunkin Donuts drive through for a medium coffee - and the person at the window told me the driver in the car in front of me paid for my coffee too.
It really made me think that maybe the spirit of the season is alive after all! So, tomorrow morning I will write and send those cards and call a couple friends to check in & wish them happy holidays.
Since the 25th is the first of the 12 days of Christmas, the things I send will even still be “in time”. 😄
We need to stay strong, otherwise the bad guys win. They want the good to collapse but we refuse. We will fill food pantries and keep demonstrating. We will teach our grandchildren what love is, so they too can spread it. We will call our Representatives in congress, even if they are ignoring us. And we will be kind even to the grinches💕
From your light to ours. From my light to yours. Merry Christmas. Happy Solstice. All of that. Do not let them take the Sacred into their cruel, hypocritical embrace. They cannot have It, cannot extinguish the God of the Universe and of our Hearts, unless we let them.
Thank you for sharing your light through words. I really needed this, a beautiful reminder that even a flicker of light can be used to shine from within to illuminate a path for all.
The past few weeks have brought horrible news. But little by little I hear other people getting disgusted with our current situation (on the news, on social media). What gives me hope is that MAYBE we are getting closer to seeing the pendulum swing the other way. Maybe some people need to be so disgusted that they want a change. I have hope that we will see a change coming
For me, at the moment, that means getting back to cookies while letting go of how I thought this year's holiday season might be less chaotic than most of them are. Have gotten a little better at that over the years, but as you so accurately point out, this year is different for so many reasons.
Before it gets any later, I will head back to the kitchen and put on a Christmas movie or Christmas music, take a deep breath, and keep going. Your words here will help me get through this.
My hope is that you have family and friends with whom you will share this Light and receive theirs in return.
Thank you, John. We have to be the light in the world and not let the darkness overcome it. I find myself struggling on many days to be the light…to go to the light. But go to the light, we must. They want us to fall into despair, to give in, to give up. We have to prove them wrong.
John, you bring me comfort. I often lose hope that we as a country are irredeemable. You remind me to focus on the good. My amazing, like-minded daughter is living her dream as a veterinarian and she’s getting married next spring. I try to focus on the positives in my personal life, while completely dismayed by the bigger picture of our country. Your posts ground me like you’ll never believe.
If I could hug you, John I certainly would. It felt like you just reached out and hugged me with your words.
I agree.
Thank you, John. When I feel you start to waver, I will surely lose hope even though I pray every night that this national nightmare ends.

Thanks for sharing those with us!
What uplifting happenings to share with us; thank you.

From one heart to another, thank you. Your words were much needed tonight and gratefully received. Thank you!

We need to uncover our collective light . Many , many of us cannot help sliding closer to despair…. But we do not go all the way there.
Any light at all, and there is that beautiful gracious light along our path.
Shining sweetly on all of us who believe that our hearts and souls turn toward ‘the Greatest Love’ and accept His benevolent promise.
🙏🏻 Namaste

As once the Bhudda once said "Be the Lamp unto yourself, make the your light"
Just so you know, at this age and in this time, You are a part of the light I rejoice in.
‘Do something to remind yourself why you live’, beautifully stated! Joy is resistance and that is what I am trying to do.

I would also hug you John for the much needed light my heart needed that you shared here.❤️🌟Keep shining dear one....♥️🌟
