I’m pretty sure that Trump would never have run for office, but for the regrettable backlash to the election of the first black president. Among all the potential GOP candidates, he was the only one willing to spouting an incessant stream of racist lies, thereby tapping into the deep racism that is baked into our society.

Sad, and at least partially the case. What I thought of as an evolving society based on electing an intelligent and articulate black president, turned out to be a warning call to the many nationalists and racists in our country.

I thought when Barack Obama was elected that we had made some forward progress. Then came the dark money funded Tea Party. Then the “shellacking” of 2010 and onward to Citizens United. A lot of Americans are racist and too lazy to think for themselves. I used to think that maybe Dems had less appealing ideas. But elections get rigged by the right and Republicans lie says Stuart Stevens.

John. Unfortunately you speak the truth. His racist remarks are hateful and disrespectful but he has no soul. Just an empty vessel. I am never shocked by his jealousy against the Obama’s. Deep down he knows that they are everything he will never be. A failed human being

The final sentence is who T is 😜

Kristin S.'s avatar

Yes. T is so jealous. Just what you said.

Exactly! An empty vessel is exactly what the Heritage Foundation, Project 2025 & Repugs have been looking for for decades :(

You nailed it, Jeanne.

"Snarling, repugnant cesspool" is exactly correct. We literally elected the worse human on Earth twice.

He's given them permission to be blatantly racist, of course they'll not only stick by him, but actually love his actions. Repugnant.

Dee's avatar

I agree with you! They are him and he is them! It’s been long since time to acknowledge that fact!

To those who spew the idea that "there isn't any racism anymore".....good lord.

Lynette's avatar

Lisa I was one of those that wanted to believe we were making progress when President Obama was elected, I wish I had been correct but 250 years of baking it into the fabric makes the stain very difficult to shout-out.

it is time for this disgusting dementia afflicted grandpa to be led back to the memory care unit in his FL nursing home. Well past time.

I truly understand this perspective, and I want to believe it will help. The problem for me is that he’s spewing far more than his own hate and disgust. He pushing an agenda more complex than he could hope to ever plan on his own. We know that Miller et al are pushing agendas through him. We also know that the veep is far more dark, evil, and smitten with the possibility of creating a country of white nationalists, by white nationalists, for white nationalists.

I don’t want to give him a head start or lengthen his possible time in office.

He has no bottom. His malignant narcississm is destroying our country and sadly his racist, misognistic moranic immorality reflects an element in the worst of us. What is often more infuriating to me is the complicity (and, thus agreement) of so many of his minions....and, don't get me started on the contempt I feel towards all those pathetic white men of the GOP.

Thanks for verbalizing my feelings.

He gives them permission to be their worst selves.

Thank you for calling this out. I am losing confidence by the day that this vileness can be cured by standard constitutional means. It seems to me that as most seem to have put out of their minds, we're still fighting the Civil War, and have been since 1860 even though we pretended that it was over in 1865. And an objective historian from Mars might very well say that the Confederacy has won.

Going back a few years from that, I keep thinking of the September 17, 1787 exchange:

Elizabeth Willing Powel: "Well, Doctor, what have we got, a republic or a monarchy?"

Ben Franklin: "A republic, if you can keep it."

I'm not giving up, but I'm having trouble believing, after all we've been though and considering what seems to be in store for us, that we can actually keep it.

Just when you think Trump can't go any lower, he does.

Absolutely nothing will end that vile TACO. Because his hoard of followers are just like him 🤬

I was watching the venerable monks, #Walk for Peace, and viewing that disgusting meme ruined any peaceful feelings. The monks would not react like I did. The fact that this despicable person can do this with no consequences, just feels hopeless for this country. I will never, nor want to understand his supporters.

I think the timing of this only serves as a diversion. Perhaps to divert our attention from the Clintons testimony. Or the efforts to fire/impeach Noem. Or the information in the latest release of Epstein files. It could be a lot of things.

Penny Ann Morgan's avatar

I just realized what caused the release of this vile video. Becoming is getting rave reviews while Melania is generating loads of laughs, derision and mockery.

He is so scum! We so deserve so much better those that didn't vote carry the blame for his crap!

Thank you for continuing to tell the truth about djt and all those who support and champion him.
