If only the ground could open up, swallow them whole, and recede …. leaving no trace, but a memory of a bad dream … thanks as always John!

They’ve created a cataclysmic rift which they now own, which will be very hard to climb out of if they so choose. Not likely without the Dems to clean up their mess once again. To be or not to be, that is the question.

Riveting. Truthful. Awful. Thank you.🙏

Sadly, this is only half of what is going the befall the Earth - wars, natural disasters, and plagues will add to the gore’s of the many whilst handled by the few with the motto ‘how can we profit from this’. Furthermore, there may not be a democracy left where they can be voted out of power. And to think that the majority of the people voted for this evil to rise is beyond comprehension.

Not a majority. Only a plurality.

We have to keep saying and remembering, a plurality, not a majority and, certainly not a mandate.

Horrifyingly plausible. Greed over empathy. An amorality that is inconceivable to most of us.

Your words can deflate us or compel us to action. I choose to act. Thank you for the very powerful message.

Absolutely correct. The cruelty is their objective.

If only this were satire. If only we could stop what’s coming. If only our loved ones and friends who have been gaslighted into thinking he is a godly man who cares about them could see the truth. If only…..

I hope we all choose to fight instead of mourning. The “making of America Great Again” will be like the proverbial frog in boiling water. It won’t be as dramatic as happening on “day one”. It will be like gradually turning up the heat. We might be in the pot but now is the time to fight every incremental change

I don't think it's going to be all that gradual. "Shock and awe" and all that.

The saddest thing is our children will not remember how great America really was before Trump. To all the so called Christian boomers & their apathetic offspring who ushered this in believing they could regale in the past they remembered, screw you. Part of it was a lie, but it was at least based on a noble cause. You know who you are and your twisted nostalgia might end this republic. For me, I am old(er:-), but I’m not dead yet. I will fight!

Well written, but I wish everyone wouldn’t treat this like we lost the checkmate. We need to write the counter narrative of resilience, radical joy and overcoming too. I get it. I struggle with this too. I read John’s piece and went into a bad emotional tailspin today. We got to find ways and tell stories that keep us flying. Conceding that suffering is our future and wailing about that doesn’t get us anywhere

Wow…. The imagery is so sickening, I wish it were fiction…. Thank you John for your words

I wonder if the MAGA Christians have ever heard Bernadette Farrell's "Christ Be Our Light?" Uh... probably not.

The Ghost of Christmas Future: chilling. Well written possibly or probability? This is a gut check and call to work toward neither happens.
