I'm a recovering Evangelical - now not associated with a specific church - and I've had to block my own sister on all socials as she has weaponized her beliefs in a way that I am no longer willing to tolerate. It feels like she's in a cult and there's nothing I can do. I'm going on a special trip this fall paid for by my mother that also includes my sister and my sister-in-law. I'm dreading how to navigate. Any suggestions for how to take care of myself between now and then - and also protect my boundaries while on this trip?
So one more time before people even dive in I want to point people again toward Dr. Patton's column today which not only addresses propaganda around the current Mideast War in the era of AI and tweaked algorithm, but which also addresses the topicof narrative and propaganda more generally which Confederate Republicans have been waging on the truth generally and on U.S. citizens' minds in particular (which is why some of us have been running in circles screeching things like "THIS WILL BE A PROPAGANDA WAR, NOT A POLICY WAR" since, oh, 2016 or so)
As a bonus I'm going to offer everyone a panel from the beginning of this 2nd iteration of the Confederate Republican regime, earlier this year, with Constitutional scholar & Justice Correspondent for the Nation Elie Mystal, Emmy-nominated former White House Correspondent April Ryan, and pastor and Make It Plain columnist Mark Thompson
(remember that particular executive order was the very first thing Donald signed -- was anyone else asking themselves "Why would he start there?")
because everyone will need some actual facts and Constitutional law before this white nationalist terrorist insanity is over

John. We have attorneys in the administration (Bondi, Blanche) who blatantly and repeatedly break their oath to the Constitution in order to provide succor to DJT. Where are the Bar Associations? Why have they not been disbarred?
Do any of you feel that the world religions have little to nothing to contribute in this post-modern age? Isn't the "golden rule" enough for the human family to coalesce around as our core moral compass? Buddhism (not a religion) seems to offer "a way" of living for the human family that seems healthier and more rational than the religions who offer psychotic deities. Thoughts?
