Even with regulations at Arlington prohibiting such brazen self-promotion and campaigning, TFG went ahead as he usually does, without regard for anyone but himself. If anyone thinks for a nanosecond he put the soldiers and their families ahead of his self-interests, think again. Wrong! He did it for himself, no one else.

His cult members are not going to change their ways. He's their cult leader and anything he does is fine.

The Arlington staffer who tried to enforce the rules but was verbally abused and physically shoved out of the way by the Trump campaign was female. Would the Trump campaign have said that the staffer had a mental health episode if the staffer had been male? Doubtful Just like the Trump campaign’s repugnant sexual insults to Vice President Kamala Harris. This is not how we as Christians were taught to treat people and it’s time that we called the Trump campaign out for it

John, I'm doing a LOT of reading about Christian Nationalism in connection with a discussion group I'm going to lead in September. I now believe that understanding how nearly 30% of our population has been led down this dangerous CN road is the key to understanding these irrational loyalties and the absurd politics within the Republican Party. It now makes "sense" when seen through the CN lens. A great book to begin with is "Jesus and John Wayne"...it's an eye-opening read.

You're so right, John. I think your insight goes to the "heart" of this man. We're all props to his vanity and his ego and his great mental illness. Nothing seems to really exist for him as reality beyond himself. This has to be lonely and terrifying. But his lack of realness must not drag us down with him. We must vote for joy and normality and ensure our democracy endures.

As a military member married to a veteran I am so disgusted by his callous disregard for our countrymen and women who serve this high calling.

More evidence of his very low Emotional IQ, rampant narcissism, and strictly transactional nature.

I’m also waiting for JDV to point out the military members who don’t have children can’t be fully invested in military service because they’ve got no “skin in the game” for the future.

As we see the favorability of VP Harris go up, I believe we are also seeing Trump’s favorability decline. As Trump continues to be Trump his manifest depravity becomes more obvious. While right wing media choose not to show his displays of “weirdness”, the rest of us see it and are repulsed by it. Trump is incapable of acting in any other way; so keep pointing out the madness and keep the light shining into the darkness of Trump, Trumpism, Project 2025, and and the spinelessness of his enablers including the MSM that continues to treat this campaign as normal.

I wrote a similar Substack article under Grassroots of Democracy Group today. I have also read and heard from a lot of other writers and podcasters about how livid we are at the gaslighting. I’m glad to know we are all expressing the same thing. Rise up! Only 10-weeks to get this energy of the United States OUT of our lives forever.

Daily glimmers of hope have me keepin' the faith baby! This disgraceful display @ Arlington National Cemetery (who gives a thumbs up w/a grin at a gravesite?) has veterans & civilians alike coming over to the "America is already Great" side: Just today, we know several GOP'ers that are endorsing the Harris-Walz ticket & admitting it out loud! Prayin' this positive pandemic continues! :)
