Honestly the answer to video messages for me is "none," unless they are close-captioned. I don't like playing videos with sound as I am often reading in a public place, coffee shop, Metro, or other places with people around. I far prefer reading to listening.
I had been thinking that I was being selfish and unkind if I stopped communicating with the MAGAs in my life. Thank you for making it right to stop dealing with toxic people. There are those that I will always see on certain occasions, but now I don't get drawn into political discussions and I'm feeling so much better!
Thanks John. I would like to see some synergy. Here;s what I mean, I will be seventy and in the 60's and 70's for the women's and civil rights movements there were so many coalitions that came together, the clergy, the civil rights advocates, black groups , young people etc etc. Maybe you could host one zoom call where you have 2-3 three coalitions. I also listen to this communicator named Heather Cox Richardson. She does freebies on FB. She is currently a professor of History at Boston College. She would be great and I am just listing her as an example. Thanks for all you do
Honestly the answer to the frequency question for me is : “When you feel ready to write. I am grateful for you and your insight. I have subscribed to support your stepping up in this time of crisis.” I don’t need another newsletter from you or video to keep me diligently reading your posts. I never want to expect more from a substacker than they can reasonably give. You are filling the void left by legacy media and corrupted social media. I read you every time you post, but I do not feel entitled to request you post more than you feel able to do. Peace and Thanks to you, John.
Add me to the list of people whose real answer to video is “none.“ If I watch videos at all I do it with sound off — so I have to follow closed captions, and they are so slow I could read the same content in half the time. Frankly, I find videos annoying.
I’m a Buddhist, and would like to see more spiritual content, in terms of going beyond ego and self-seeking and connecting with core truths. These could be c drawn from any or no set of specific religious beliefs.,
As a very secular Jew, I have occasionally wanted to say that we're not all Christians. Too often, in America, it is assumed that all Americans are Christian.
I saw what you posted on FB about someone complaining about the length of your newsletters and want you to know that I love what you write. If someone doesn't want to read a long newsletter, that's their choice - but to assume they have the right to suggest what you should do is hubris. Do your thing, John, we love you - even us atheists.
Greetings John.....If you could possibly highlight any minor (or better yet, not so minor)) victory you might stumble upon while fighting the good fight, I think that would be a welcome morale boost to see at least something, somewhere making a difference.. One of your commenters yesterday was asking for a 'good news' outlet, and I think to include content such as this might just address what she was asking for.
I read and support you in spite of your Christian content (though I appreciate your open discussion of authentic Christian values). I subscribed because I like the content you produce at the length and frequency you produce it. I would find it hard to maintain the quality and variety of my posts if I were trying to write something daily, so I would encourage you to publish as often as you feel you have something useful to say (and not worry about whether it's useful - it's going to resonate with most, regardless).

Ditto. I don't like podcasts or sound. Transcripts for me!
Ditto. I know others prefer videos. I only open videos that also have a script, so I can read the discussion.
I agree.
You're kind of a lifesaver, John. You are ministering to tens of thousands of us...
Thank you.
Carry on with your own inspiration and intuition: listen to the spirit within, all that stuff.

I respond to your deeply human posts.... no need to ask for more guidance. You are yourself sufficient.
YES!!!

I also don't usually open video messages unless they are close-captioned. I'm often multi-tasking and prefer reading posts.

I really appreciate being a part of this community!

I love your column and want you to continue writing about whatever is firing you up. I seldom watch videos.
