Thanks for this very useful clarification, John. I need to use it to help me discern where the root of my exhaustion really lies.

I’ve been shut down the past few days. Not only worried about the political and morality situation, but also friends and family in Helene’s path in Florida, Georgia and Tennessee. Popped my head back up into the world this morning and this Article was waiting for me! The Lord does move in incredibly wonderful ways! ♥️

“friend’s comment sections; doing verbal gymnastics to sidestep relational explosions and to keep loving people I've recently learned unsettling things about.” This is where it gets me the most. Thanks for this great writing!

I agree! That part got me too! You can no longer discuss politics with a Trumpster (whether friend or kin) with out being screamed at. If you add another dimension to the argument, they can only repeat what they just yelled, but louder!! I’m not looking forward to Thanksgiving or Christmas this year. Regardless of the election outcome, there’s gonna be a whole lot of screaming going on!

Sharing this, John. Let's hope we won't have to endure the chaos of another Trump administration. It really is up to *US* to preserve our precious democracy.

Hi. I am a brand new subscriber. I have been following since 2016, and shared your writings on Facebook and emails with family and friends. Isn't it sad that all these years later we still have to fight the same thing. I was about to give up yesterday, but then that video of Kamala smiling, laughing and dancing to FREEDOM woke me up. I can breathe again, smile again and HOPE AND JOY in my heart again. Today I am going to open up my absentee ballot and vote for Kamala and the other good people on the ballot. Thanks, John for bringing HOPE AND JOY again.

I am so deeply tired of losing friends, family, and even just acquaintances to the MAGA cult and philosophy. It wasn’t until Trump came along that I got to see some of the really deep down nastiness in a few of my neighbors and family members. It’s a very difficult medicine to swallow. I am very much exhausted by all of this.

I subscribed to you because I really love how you write. You put everything in perspective. I’m not even American but I want to support you. As a Canadian, what happens to Americans politically affects us. Continue proclaiming the TRUTH!!

Thanks John for this "prescription" for our sickness! You help us fight the fatigue with logic & hope. We must continue together toward the final stage of this political "epidemic" & keep the faith that most Americans will make the choice to move forward toward "healing" our nation. Peace must prevail!

Be part of the solution. “Do Something!” It is not the time to sit back, but the time for action. We must make sure Harris - Walz wins. The alternative will really make you sick and tired…

Thank you for your words and inspiration, yet again. You are the first, and so far only substack author I subscribe to. There are very many good ones so I'm being very particular. That's why you were first. I recently shared one of your posts with the pastor of my meeting house. He wrote me back to let me know that he had the pleasure of meeting you and assures me you are every bit as wonderful in person as you are in your writing. What I see in you is that you are full of love. As well as good reasoning. A very nice mix. Thank you for having the right words to inspire, and sharing them with us.
