Now that we have only 4 days left till Election Day I have totally given the results up to my Higher Power. God. My anxiety level has decreased because I feel exhausted from worrying. I have voted and pray my vote counts. So to all make your choice count and save our democracy from becoming extinct. Vote 🗳️ Blue on Tuesday it is the only way to go
John, you have been writing good pieces to read and to heed as we all run toward Election Day. The bright light ahead is not an oncoming train but the bright light of the election of Kamala Harris as President. The alternative is darkness.
Not voting for Kamala is a moral outrage, period, given the alternative, given the potential horrific consequences *worldwide.* If you are not voting, or voting third party because you believe whatever the hell you believe regarding her position on Gaza, then you are no better than any Trump supporter out there. And as I have said literally thousands of times this year anywhere I can friggin' say it, ***You cannot be a Trump supporter AND a moral human being.***
One more thing. It's time to grow up, folks. Seriously. Let me put it to you straight. You are not a perfect human being. Very far from, I would wager. I'm certainly not perfect either. For you to expect perfection, moral or otherwise, from a presidential candidate reveals you to be a child, naive and somewhat pathetic. Grow the hell up. Kamala Harris is not perfect. She hasn't tried to be. In fact, she has admitted to being flawed. I've heard her say it in at least two major speeches. If you aren't voting for her because her policy positions don't perfectly align with yours, then ... wow. Poor little privileged baby. Wanna jam sandwich before you take your widdle little nap? Hmm?
Yes, there aren't any perfect humans, but Harris at least is a decent person while Trump is a thoroughly abhorrent one. His reelection could only bring increased death and disaster not only to the Middle East but to all of America. Most difficult to bear is the strident whining of his apologists as to how the 'Left' is disparaging him with untruths. Could a single Trump voter have a clear concept of the meaning of truth? One could not, since every word issued from his vile mouth is a lie! "Lies are Truth and Truth are Lies" to them, as they are to the tyrant of '1984'. Here is the counterpoint to Trump's hideous dictatorial fantasy, as set out in Lincoln's First Inaugural Address of 1861, on the eve of the American Civil War, with the reference to the "better angels of our nature".
Those that know & value history, know that religious wars have existed since the Crusades in 1095.
Unfortunately, some believe that they will exist in one way or another due to human nature & the unwillingness to accept differences. This election will show the world who WE are as AMERICANS: A country that embraces differences & believes in truth, respect, compassion & the rule of law.
Mr Bonespurs cares NOTHING about Gaza or any war zone - unless there’s a real estate play during the cleanup phase

Yes, electing Kamala Harris will be better for everyone in the Middle East than electing Trump. And I make that case to my right-wing Jewish friends.
Your column would not reassure them. And it disappoints me.
Despite a nod to the horrors of October 7, you have pivoted to the "scorched earth" of Gaza. I'm not sure what that means. Finding a web of tunnels larger than the NYC subway system? Schools and hospitals used for weapons storage? UNWRA operatives who are linked to Hamas? Casualty figures kindly supplied by Hamas and used unquestioningly throughout the world? How about a constant rain of missiles from Hamas, Hizbollah, and the Houthis? Or the reality that Iran sponsors this war and that Israel, from the moment of its declaration of statehood has been under existential threat.
I am seriously tired of needing to provide context for the ongoing war and the single-minded focus on Israel's response.
(I can Netanyahu bash with the best of them, but I will submit that he is, in large measure, created by the rest of the world's refusing to actually provide Israel with support and security.)
Gosh, I wish I was following your site back then. I tried so hard to convince those passionate voters about the bigger picture. If only I had your words, these words. February 5th, 2025.
