Very poignant words, John. I would lovingly remind YOU to do the same. You have been our collective voice of love, compassion, hope, kindness, generosity of spirit, helping thousands of us likeminded souls navigate this cesspool of immorality of our public servants. Please!!! Take time and effort to restore your soul and spirit. Know that you are doing a great service and it's appreciated deeply.

Thanks Bill for putting into words what most of us feel as John finds his words to lift us up!

Onward towards the light folks...We must stay strong together!

The sadness I have been feeling has been soul crushing. I am praying and hoping that next weekend when I see four of my sweet and incredible grandkids I will snap out of this malaise. Please pray for me, John as I will keep you in my daily prayers. Thank you

Thank you, John, for these important reminders. Chaos-bringers hope to wear us down so that we will just give up. But we are not alone in this and as a community we can support one another. I'm so grateful.

Thank you John. I needed this message! I am grieving the deaths of husband of 58 years and a brother and sister who died within a month of each other, had Covid and then the devastating election. Your word gave me permission and comfort knowing it’s time for me to take care of me. Pray for my daughter who will have brain surgery on Monday. I’m trusting God! He’s all I have!

Thank you so much for this post. I confess I’ve been ignoring political news, the awful appointments being made and what will happen after January 20th, focusing instead on my granddaughters’ performances and projects for the holidays. Your post relieved me of the guilt I’ve been feeling for not jumping into the fray - yet.

Today, my self care was a long walk with a dear friend, a gander at art and the rising moon, and a most excellent charcuterie plate. (In case others need ideas.)

Thank you John, what you described is exactly what I've been feeling, including how quickly the Resistance came, and is still coming, together. I've done my share of protesting in my lifetime, but nothing as important as this. Please do your own self care as well, we need you, my friend. 🙏💙🙏💙🙏

Thank you for these words of encouragement! But I am now ready to fight! A small blue dot in this ruby red state, but I’m sending letters to my congressman and our senators asking them to uphold their oath of office. I’m not quite sure exactly how to fight but I’m ready willing and able. I’m waiting for some further direction, but I am a 67 year old willing to do the work, I have nothing to lose.

I think we have plenty of evidence that the Democratic Party is quite as beholden to billionaires, including international ones, as the GOP. It’s difficult not to see the refusal to campaign with or represent Muslims in Dearborn, or ignoring Bernie and AOC for Liz Cheney, or voting against expanding Medicare Rx savings (2022), culminating with Garland refusing to prosecute Trump aggressively, as part of the oligarchical takeover. Trump is a useful fool/tool, and zero billionaires will be affected by any economic disaster - after all they made out like the bandits they are while we were stuck at home with COVID. Trump is contemptible, but he is only a crazy marionette.

As much as I don't want to engage in a circular firing squad, unless we can course correct with a stronger more focused Democratic Party, we are sunk. I am not sure we are all on the same side, even with the (D) after their/our names. Garland's refusal to prosecute, Biden's refusal to step away until the last minute instead of being the transitional POTUS he promised to be in 2020, and a good intended but foolish notion that Americans would do the "right thing" in the face of such criminality - all these things built on each other. Harris raised $1 BILLION in funds - perhaps she could have spend it on something else than texting me 15 times a day and holding rallies where she preached to the choir? Hindsight is 20/20, and my God, there is so much hindsight to process.

You are right. We have a great deal of work to do in our own party. Many bad decisions - both Garland and Biden hurt the Democratic Party I also agree about Harris’s texts. She had my vote. It was too much.

Thank You. Good info as always

I have stepped away from anything having to do with "you know who". I do a lot of guided meditations. I have emails from you and Heather Cox Richardson.

My congressman suggested signing up for email newsletters from my favorite positions.

We can't be uninformed of what THEY are up to but maybe during the holidays let's think about blessings and eating yummy food and gifts. Then in January we will have to get back in the fire and pay attention.

But please dear ones, no news right before bed

Your words are just what I needed to hear. Just a few days before the election I saw the Dr who replaced my knees 17 years ago. After nearly two years of trying to get a Dr. to listen to me about the heart symptoms I was having, he did listen, and got me in to see his cardiologist. My appt was on the 14th, and I learned I do have a problem and need to have a couple of tests done. The complete anxiety, fear, and even terror of what is to come was devastating enough, but now having to wait til Dec 10 for my tests is making it worse. I realize I need to back off from reading everything I can about what is happening, and stop reading all the requests for $ from all the good organizations out there working to defeat Trump. I gave as much as I could prior to the election, but in view of the future I cannot afford to give just now. Your words gave me permission to take a break and focus on my health. I spoke to a friend today, she's as worried as I am about losing SS & Medicare, so I know I am not alone. I hope everyone takes your words to heart. We can't function well when we are overloaded with worry and stress. Thank you so much!
