Drawing a connection between resistance and gratitude would never have occurred to me before today’s message. It makes perfect sense. Grateful for you and your willingness to share your perspective and wisdom.
Thank you for this critical insight. I remember well the story of Aimee Copeland (I live in Georgia) and what an inspiring journey she is making. I have thought I could not be so brave. I am struggling these days with all the terrible things going on in this country and feeling paralyzed at times on what I should be doing. In an effort at self-care, I have retreated a bit from my traditional activist approach and am trying to find my equilibrium. Focusing on gratitude (because I have much to be grateful for) is a good first step to getting oriented to how I can survive these times and do my part for our country and all the things about it that I care about. Thank you!
My biggest gratitude is your commitment to all of us struggling. I know I do better when I start the day saying thank you for so many things/-my children, my grandchildren, still having my 97 year old mother, my loving family, my sweet dog, incredible friends, and living in a country that allows us to resist wrong being done to the most vulnerable and for this community dedicated to resisting and impacting change to protect our most vulnerable!
Thank you so much! This is exactly what I needed to think about this morning. And it is surprising how many things I found I am thankful for, once I started directing my focus that way. A kitchen I am comfortable cooking in, food I love (gluten free because I have celiac disease and vegan because I have a heart), a church I look forward to going to (we’ll be talking about welcoming the stranger this morning), my cat sleeping on a blanket , the list goes on and on. Thank you for reminding me not to let the whirlwind of these awful times consume me.
This video is so spot on! I am so grateful for you and what you are doing. I hope you will always have these kind videos; and keep this videos for all of us to watch later. You're the best!
What I will remember most when we are well past this horror that is happening daily in our America is how your words gave me such hope and inspiration. Tears, yes, but I cling to your words for dear life. And I keep arguing with God. I often re-read your words when I need them most on "those" days, far too many of those days. Thank you thank you. I am so grateful for you.
I'm grateful for the truth and compassion of those like you, John. I'm grateful for the thousands showing up at protests, making calls, posting on social media who show that goodness and right are still strong.

Thank you John! This has been shared as I know many ministers searching for "stuff" to share during Lent
I needed this today. Feeling overwhelmed with everything going on, and needing to take some deeper breaths.
Indeed. Thank you for sharing a salvific reminder of the wisdom found in so many traditions. It is something you do quite well.

I am grateful my parents are alive in the war-torn Ukraine.
Yes! This is beautiful, John. Thank you so much for putting this out into the world. 🙏🏻 So wonderfully articulated, and I couldn’t agree more. ♥️
