Omkari Williams is the Gold Nautilus award-winning and bestselling author of Micro Activism: How You Can Make a Difference in the World (Without a Bullhorn).
This is wonderful. I would like to share it as a devotional with my UMC women’s circle. They are a group of left-leaning and willing doers. But they do and give in different ways. This might help us each define our best ways of doing.
Every day, I put on 2 buttons and an upside down flag pin(our country is upside down). I wear them everywhere. One is Woke like Jesus. The other is-I'm one of 75 million Americans against trump. I also have been to rallies, made protest signs, signed petitions, and donated small amounts of money as I can. I read John Pavlovitz, Robert Reich and Dr. H eather Cox Richardson too. Also Brian Tyler Cohen. I re-post things to my Facebook feed. Locally, I donate any used goods/clothes to the Little Free Store in our city. I have also shopped at thrift stores as I can. I also got my 19 year old granddaughter and her girlfriend to attend a protection of democracy event recently. I connect with like minded friends-we call ourselves Sisters in Democracy.
Brilliant interview with such a brilliant, insightful, and compassionate human. I love the perspective that “Our job is not to attain the goal. Our job is to advance the cause.” Such inspirational and helpful words to live by. Thank you Omkari & John. ❤️🙏🏻
Wonderful conversation. Ms Williams was a peaceful, yet strong role model of how to be engaged within one’s comfort zone. I will definitely read her book.
Lovely conversation with lots of practical ideas. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that it's available at a nearby library, so I'll be checking it out (literally and figuratively!) soon.
Thanks for remind8ng me can brighten our corner where we are. We need to learn how to not take things personally, but to pick those battles that are vital and fight them.
Ah yes, Scandinavian fiction. Thanks for that reminder of small joys. :) And, thanks for the encouragement of the small things that fit my life where I am - with joy!
My small goal is to write sticky notes about “your Medicaid and Snap benefits were voted away by Congress. They don’t want you to know. Coming in late 2027“. Please learn the truth.”
As an Elementary Educator…I applaud you!!! No Educator should EVER do anything like that.
This is good information. We are burning out. New directs. Smaller goals.

So inspiring! Thank you so much for reminding me of the "little" things that make life matter and how we can make connections with them.
I put the notes in stalls in public bathrooms.
