This is core truth, John. Thank you for articulating it so clearly. It is both a shame and an indictment of the MAGA insanity that this lesson, which should have been self-evidently operative through the past 10 years, needs to be taught again and again , especially to reach those younger voters who have never experienced a truly functioning two party susyem here. May it eventually become the generally accepted rule again - and soon!

Oh, John! There are no words to express how your words made me feel this morning...no one could have said it better. Thank you, once again. I believe this is literally what it means to "speak truth to power!"😉

Perfectly said. Humanity before anything else and without that, nothing matters. There is only one choice. I hope people who are still trying to decide reach the right conclusion. Our lives and our freedoms absolutely depend on it.

OMG Yes! I read her lips and saw it in her eyes. These are two extraordinary humans and I am so glad they are our leaders. May love prevail and we bring this back into America. Thank you, John.

Again, John you have brightened my humanity in an articulate but kind and caring way. This is how we have time to reflect on what we ourselves want to project. Thank you. Your issues are contagious. Your writing permeates the thinking part of my brain. You are a teacher. Those who can teach can also lead.

May you continue on as a teacher focused on leading us all into a strong and moral humanity. I am along for the joyous ride! 🌏🌞⭐️🌳👏🏻🥰🎶

Wish I could say it as well as you, John. Or even Representative Crockett who said “The choice for President is clear. One has a resume, the other has a rap sheet.” 😀

For all you wrote about the humanity before politics, it made my heart ache. It aches for those in the MAGA movement who are so enraptured by the lies fed them that they probably didn't watch the convention or feel the love that was on display.

Your questions, "Have you ever witnessed him in a moment of real tenderness toward his wife or appropriate affection with his children? Ever watched him believably display friendship with a colleague? Ever seen him comfort a hurting or grieving human being in a way that seemed like he’d done it before or wanted to be there? Ever seen him laugh uproariously alongside someone or be moved to tears by the suffering in front of him?" makes me ache. Most MAGA followers don't even give it thought. They just march to his drum. I pray that after November 5, 2024 they will begin to heal.

Another wonderful article. I hope everyone of my facebook friends reads it. And I loved all the speeches last night and am finally filled with hope.

For all who read and follow : “The Last Honest Man”, James Risen.

The incredible book helps us realize just how deep and far reaching our tendency to allow lies and lawlessness to be secrets. We are a much stronger Nation than we have allowed ourselves to be. Corruption and power are like sugar addiction. No one pays much attention because the cause seems so normal. Now we can make a choice. Are we a strong, moral, leading Nation,

It's kinda convoluted on my phone. Hit the share button. It then gives me messenger options. I go back and then there are options at the bottom. I share to Facebook, so I select more, and then I can choose Facebook.

Are you reading it on a phone or computer?

If you're on a computer, at the bottom of the article (above the comments) it says "share." If you click that, one of the options is "copy link." Then you can paste that into an email.

On my phone, which is an iPhone, there are 3 dots in the upper right hand corner (if you're reading the article on the Substack app) and clicking the dots also give you the option to copy the link. Hope that helps!

Or are we content to be unscrupulous and pig headed by allowing a few to divert the humanity we all crave.

What we need to do is define what the word truth means. And we need to let the media know that freedom of speech, doesn’t mean that one lies or misinformation, disinformation, propaganda or their own personal beliefs. Especially if you are in a media company. They must be held accountable for their actions. All the media needs to have a disclaimer about their actions and behavior. Especially faux news. Journalists need to report truth and facts about what they do.
