Let’s go back to those on the Right. Those who profess to be Christian. Those who follow Jesus. Then ask the basic question coined years ago. “What would Jesus do?”
Would Jesus love and care about people regardless of their race, sex, nationality, claimed gender, wealth? Would he separate children from parents? Would he tell the poor you’re on your own. Would he take food from the poor or would he feed them? Would he heal the sick or would he keep medical care and prevention methods from them? Would Jesus deny shelter or medicine or food or work from those struggling to provide and care for their families? If a person is truly Christian, how would they honestly answer these questions? Instead it seems it’s about lining the pockets of the rich with disregard from those who barely have enough.
I believe the Republicans are following the German National Socialists’ playbook to the letter. We have not yet seen their final game plan. They are building large prisons across the US, and broadcasting that their primary “enemy” is the political left, whom they plan to detain and “prosecute”. The progressives, or Democrats are the Jews and other “undesirables” of Nazi Germany. We cannot imagine what we’ve seen in the first 6 mos. of this administration. It is not a stretch of the imagination to extrapolate to the detention in “concentration camps” of the political left with attendant violation of property rights etc.
Thank you for sharing this conversation. I agree with Thom Hartmann that we want to be sure to call out, of course that term "call-out" can be loaded but it is bringing awareness to the areas of incompatibility with what is happening and human caring. I also agree with you that we have proximity to pain and agency to alleviate it.
We tried to do that with Bernie and look where it got us. If we could figure out why the Right is turned off by the idea of helping people and lifting all boats (or at least more boats), that might be a starting point. Love Thom Hartmann and you.
This strategy needed to happen yesterday, last week, last month, 10 years ago, and even all through the 20th Century. The people who have practiced their faith in the name of Christ and have also been racist, homophobic, bigots, complicit, protecters of churches’ sins, and ALL these things have led a life of hypocrisy even before drumph exposed them within his base. It’s too late, IMO.

I think there has always been a force for and a force against humanity, it's as old a civilization. I will never give up feeding that "good" angel.
